Dolly-Parton
Born on Jan. 19th of 1946 at Locust Ridge Tenn into a poor family that would eventually include 12 children Dolly Parton learned early to overcome the difficulties of her life with her vast and imaginative imagination. Before she learned to write or read, she was creating her own music. Within 8 years she had her very first guitar. When she was 11 years old she started singing on the local radio station in Knoxville, Tennessee. That same year when she began recording her first album with Gold Band Records an independent small-scale label. While she was in school, she had already made a name for herself on the local scene. However, her goal was to be more widely well-known. When she was graduating in 1964 she relocated to Nashville. Her first charting records on Monument Records included Dumb Blonde and Something Fishy both in 1967. Porter Wagoner had been looking for a female vocalist to perform on his show syndicated by him at this point. Parton was hired in 1966, joined RCA Records in 1968, and then the Grand Ole Opry was founded in 1969. In 1974, she resigned from at the end of Wagoner's show due to the success of her singles like Joshua Coats in Many Colors or Jolene was outstripping their joint releases. Parton wrote I Will Always Love You in honor of Wagoner following their split. It reached number one. Its first appearance at Number 1 was in 1974.
