Allison Chinchar is a meteorologist for CNN and HLN. She has a presence for CNN's New Day Weekend and HLN's Weekend Express, as well CNN International. Before being hired by CNN in the summer of 2015 she served as meteorologist for the local station in Atlanta, Nashville, and Chattanooga, Tennessee. Her coverage has included every aspect of hurricanes, blizzards, flooding events, and wildfires. In fact, she received an Emmy nomination for her coverage of Hurricane Dorian which struck the Bahamas in 2019. The coverage she provided of the Super Tornado Outbreak of April 2011, in which over 350 tornadoes occurred in the Southeastern United States over a time period of four days, 200 taking place on April 27, was also nominated in the Emmy Awards. With her expertise in environmental sciences, she's reported on earthquakes, volcanoes and natural disasters, in addition to climate change stories. Chinchar received a bachelor's of Science degree in Atmospheric Science from The Ohio State University. Chinchar is also a member of the American Meteorological Society and Canadian Meteorological and Oceanographic Society.
